Tigers Rebound With Victory Over Quakers

Emily Murray
WILMINGTON, Ohio - Coming off back-to-back matches without a victory, the Wittenberg Tiger women's soccer team found its offense again, firing 23 shots in a 2-0 victory over regional rival Wilmington. Nine minutes in, Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) took a Taylor Goss (Sandy Spring, Md./Friends School) cross and put it in to give the Tigers the early lead.

The offense would not abate throughout the contest, as the Tigers peppered the goal all evening, which included a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. Still, to seal the victory, the Tigers would have to wait until the 85th minute, when Corey Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) secured the win.

It was another clean sheet for the Tiger defense and goalkeeper Jordan Bamberger (Solon, Ohio/Solon) as the back line collected their fifth shutout of the season.

The victory moves Wittenberg to 5-1-2 as the Tigers prepare to entertain Capital at Edwards-Maurer Field at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24.
