Springfield, Ohio -- After falling behind 1-0 in the ninth minute of the match, the Wittenberg University Tigers responded with four goals and a defensive shutout the rest of the way to defeat Earlham 4-1 to keep their slim NCAC tournament chances alive.
Senior midfielder Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) scored two goals and had two assists on her birthday, while freshman forward Geri Woessner (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) added a pair of goals. Junior midfielder Emily Gersbach (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) had two assists in the match.
Wittenberg outshot Earlham 20-8 in the contest, and Tiger goalkeeper Jenny Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) recorded five saves before going down with a leg injury late in the game. She was one of four Tiger players to suffer injuries in the game, including freshman forward Kate Williston (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster), who broke her arm and is out for the season.
Wittenberg improves their overall record to 8-5 and their NCAC conference record to 2-4.
