The Tigers took the win on the strength of a goal from sophomore forward Sheryl Chambers (Victorville, Calif./St. Joan of Arc), her seventh of the season. But for most of the game, the tie remained even at zero, until Chambers' strike broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute.
The goal came on one of the Tigers' three shots on goal. The Tigers totaled nine shots overall. The Quakers, however, put seven shots on goal, but all were turned away by the Tigers. Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Gartner (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula) tied a season-high with five saves, the only other five-save occasion coming during a 2-0 loss to Capital on Sept. 23. The defense contributed two team saves to the effort.
The Tigers have just three games left in the 2009 regular season schedule before the NCAC semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 4. First up is a 10 a.m. Homecoming contest with Allegheny on Saturday, Oct. 24.
