Four More Scoreless Periods Add Up To Tie With Ohio Northern

Emily Murray

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg women's soccer team played through its third scoreless game in as many home games in a four-period stalemate with Ohio Northern Wednesday night at Edwards-Maurer Field, moving to 3-0-3 on the season while the Polar Bears are now 3-1-2 in 2009.

The Tigers managed seven shots, three of them on goal in the contest, led by senior Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) who put both of her two shots on goal. Also with two shots in the game was sophomore forward Taylor Goss (Sandy Spring, Md./Friends School), one of which was on goal.

The Tiger defense kept Ohio Northern to just three shots, and only one found its way to freshman goalkeeper Melissa Gartner (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Ursula). Through six games, the defense has allowed just 25 shots to the Tigers' 71, and has allowed opponents to shoot on Gartner just five times.

The Tigers are off again until Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Manchester for a 2 p.m. match.
