Springfield, Ohio -- Wittenberg opened its difficult North Coast Athletic Conference schedule by beating Kenyon at home by a score of 2-0.
The Tigers struck early in the match when freshman forward Jill Rekers (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) received a pass from junior midfielder Emily Gersbach (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) off a throw-in. Rekers turned and blasted a shot past Kenyon keeper Megan Collins from the top of the 18-yard box to give Witt the 1-0 lead early in the match. The goal was Rekers' 4th of the season.
Witt scored again early in the second half when senior midfielder Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) intercepted a poor Kenyon clearance and scored from the top of the 18-yard box. The goal was Estep's 2nd of the season.
Tiger freshman goalkeeper Jenny Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) recorded her second consecutive shutout in goal as she recorded 4 saves. WIttenberg improved to 3-1 overall.
