Wittenberg edges past Oberlin to stay alive for NCAC tournament berth

Jen Biehl records first collegiate shutout in second career start

Springfield, Ohio -- The Wittenberg Tigers outshot the visiting Oberlin University Yeowomen, 38-8, but didn't score until the 85th minute when junior midfielder Emily Gersbach (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) served a ball into the box for freshman forward Geri Woessner (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood). The goal, Woessner's 14th of the season and second straight game-winner, was a header that just got past the outstretched arms of Oberlin's goaltender.

Wittenberg goaltender Jen Biehl (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton) made six saves in goal as she recorded her first complete game shutout as a collegiate player.

The Tigers improved to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the NCAC. Wittenberg's final home match is Thursday, Oct. 19 against Cedarville, at which time seniors Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London) and Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) will be honored.
