Late in the game in the 76th minute, junior captain Shana Ryan took a pass from substitute freshman Amy McCann. Ryan beat one defender and put the ball past goalkeeper Michelle Malatesta to put the Tigers ahead 1-0 with just 14 minutes to play in the match. Freshman Amy McCann recorded her first collegiate point with the assist.
Witt couldn't hold onto the lead however. Four minutes after scoring in the 81st minute, PSU's Michelle Gutting took a through ball down the right side as she scored to tie the match at 1-1.
Neither team was able to score in regulation and the match continued to the first sudden-death overtime period. While both teams had their chance, neither was able to score.
The second overtime period proved to be much more exciting. With 4:36 to play in the final overtime period, PSU-Behrend was awarded a penalty kick. Wittenberg goalkeeper, Katie Kendall, getting her first start of the season, reached high to parry the shot from PSU's Katie Giles, and preserve the tie for the Tigers. Kendall had 12 saves in the game for the Tigers.
