November 2, 1999--(7-11-1,4-4 NCAC)

The Tigers finished their 1999 season defeating conference opponent Earlham 2-1 in overtime but fell to Wooster 3-1 last Saturday. In the win over Earlham, freshman Sara Tawil (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) recorded the first goal for the Tigers and junior Jane Curtis (New Haven, Ind./New Haven) scored the winning goal in overtime.Tawil also scored the lone goal in the game against Wooster.

The Tigers leading scorers this season were senior captain Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South) and junior Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) with six goals each and 13 points overall. Tawil was the second leading scorer with four goals and one assist for Wittenberg.

Junior Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London) was the team leader in assists with three on the season.



October 26, 1999-- (6-10-1, 3-3 NCAC)

The Tigers opened the week falling to Ohio Wesleyan 4-2 but were able to defeat Kenyon 1-0 in overtime at the conclusion of the week.

Goals in the game against Ohio Wesleyan came from senior captain Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) and freshman Sara Tawil (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin). Junior Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) scored the deciding goal in the overtime victory against Kenyon on a penalty kick.

Leading the Tigers in scoring this season are Hepner and Estep with six goals each and 13 points overall. Junior Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London) is leading the team in assists with three on the season.

Wittenberg sees action against two conference opponents this week when it travels to Earlham on Wednesday and hosts Wooster on Saturday.



October 18, 1999--

Wittenberg posted two more victories in action last week when it defeated Cedarville 3-2 and conference opponent Hiram 9-0. With the two wins, the Tigers improved their mark to five victories on the season,one more than last season's four wins.

Junior Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) was selected the NCAC Athlete of the Week for her performances against Cedarville and Hiram. Estep recorded four goals and one assist in last week's action including two goals against Cedarville and two goals and an assist over Hiram. Estep and senior Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) are the team's leading scorers with 11 points each.

Freshman Carrie Funderburg (New Carlisle, Ohio/Northwestern) recorded her first collegiate goal in the win over Hiram. She has added three points for the Tigers in scoring this season. In her third shutout of the season, junior goalkeeper Cary Brown (Lexington, Ky./Sayre) was only forced to make two saves in the win over Hiram.

As they begin to close out the season, the Tigers host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday and then travel to Kenyon on Saturday in this week's action.



October 12, 1999--

Wittenberg fell in two conference games last week with a 5-1 loss to Denison on Tuesday and a 1-0 loss to Allegheny on Saturday.

Freshman Sarah Tkacz (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) scored the Tigers' lone goal with an assist by sophomore Emily Gersbach (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) in the game against the Big Red. Tkacz has scored three goals for the Tigers this season.

Wittenberg's leading scorer is senior captain Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) with four goals and one assist for the Tigers.

Wittenberg faces a non-conference opponent on the road Tuesday when it travels to Cedarville College and then NCAC opponent Hiram on Saturday.



October 4, 1999-- (3-7-1, 1-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers traveled to Ohio Northern in last week's action and fell 3-2 to the Polar Bears.

Senior captain Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) and freshman Sarah Tkacz (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) each scored a goal for the Tigers and were able to take the lead over Ohio Northern, but unable to maintain it as the Polar Bears answered with two goals of their own.

Leading the Tigers in scoring is Hepner with four goals and one assist, junior Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London) has one goal and two assists and Tkacz has two goals.

The Tigers face two conference opponents in action this week when they see Denison on Tuesday and Allegheny on Saturday.



September 28, 1999-- (3-6-1, 1-0 NCAC)-- The Tigers continued on a successful toad last week posting victories in both games. Wittenberg defeated Capital 2-1 and won its first conference game against Overlin 2-0.

Senior captain Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) scored two second-half goals to rally over Capital with assists by sophomore Emily Gersbach (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) and junior Jane Curtis (New Haven, Ind/New Haven). Against Oberlin, senior captain Allison Shaffer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) and junior Natalie Estep (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) each scored her first goal of the season with both assists from junior Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London).

Leading the Tigers in scoring is Hepner with three goals and one assist while Ryan has one goal and two assists.

Wittenberg opens the week with its only game against Ohio Northern on Monday and is idle until Oct 5.



September 20, 1999-- (1-6-1, 0-0 NCAC)--The Tigers opened the 1999 season with losses to DePauw, Calvin, Albion, and Wilmington before posting a 1-1 tie with PSU-Behrend in their own invitational last weekend. They went on to defeat Hanover College 2-0 in the second day of the tournament. The Tigers then fell to Heidelberg 3-0 and Washington (Mo.) 3-0 last week.

Freshman Sara Tawil (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) and Sarah Tkacz (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) each scored her first collegiate goal in the opening weeks of the season. Tawils goal came in the second game against Calvin while Tkacz's goal was scored in the win against Hanover.

Senior Kim Hepner (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) and juniors Jen Combs (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) and Shana Ryan (London, Ohio/London) have all added a goal for the Tigers.

Wittenberg will see action this week when it travels to Capital on Tuesday and Oberlin on Saturday.
