Women's Soccer Program Wins National Award

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--- The 1999 Wittenberg University Women's Soccer Team was awarded the College Team Academic Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Adidas at the annual convention. The award was presented as a result of the team's 3.1 overall grade point average during the 1999 academic school year.

"I'm extremely proud of our girls for succeeding in the classroom at such a high level," said head coach Fran Kulas. "When I arrived at Wittenberg in August, the first expectation I had for the team was that they win this awrd. I've been very impressed with our student-athletes desire to win both on the field and in the classroom. Winning this award will always be a top priority for the student-athletes in our program.

The Tigers, under the leadership of first year head coach Fran Kulas, finished the season with a 7-11-1 overall record and a 4-4 finish in the conference.
