Head Coach: Dave Engle

Dave Engle has been the head coach of men's tennis at Wittenberg University for four years and women's tennis for five. He brings tremendous experience to his role and great enthusiasm for helping to build a program with the Albright Tennis Complex, one of the finest small-college tennis facilities in the country.

A longtime resident of the Springfield area, Engle has been a teacher and coach at Shawnee High School since 1972. This is his second tour of duty at Wittenberg as he served as an assistant men's basketball coach to Larry Hunter for three years, 1984 to 1986. He then became head boys' basketball coach at Shawnee, a position he held for six years.

Engle was boys' tennis coach for six years and girls' tennis coach for seven years at Shawnee.

A member of the United States Professional Tennis Association, Engle has been a pro at Springfield Country Club for five years and the City of Springfield for seven. He is also executive director of the Ohio Valley Tennis Association.

A 1964 graduate of Northeastern High School in Clark County, Engle received his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and his master's degree from Wright State in 1973.

Assistant Coach: Steve Brown

In his second season as Wittenberg's assistant men's and women's tennis coach, Steve Brown is no stranger to the local tennis scene. A 1968 graduate of the University of Dayton, Brown previously served as boys' tennis head coach at Yellow Springs High School from 1990-95 and again in 1999. He also coached the girls' team from 1990-94. In boys' action he never lost a conference match, and combined his teams compiled a record of 152-57. He was twice voted Coach of the Year by the Miami Valley Tennis Coaches Association.

An active tennis player for the last 15 years, Brown also has had two daughters play in college. Renee played for Kenyon and graduated in 1998, while Erin played for the College of Wooster and graduated in 1999.
