Dominant Tigers Nearly Sweep Malone

Allison Earhart
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Wittenberg Tiger women's tennis team sealed off another victory with a decisive 8-1 win over Malone College on Thursday. Wittenberg's only loss came when Elizabeth Micheletti (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) retired due to injury with a one set advantage in number three singles competition.

Number one singles player Allison Earhart (Yorktown, Ind./Yorktown) broke a three-match singles losing streak with a 6-1, 7-5 victory, and Wittenberg kept up the pressure, winning all but Micheletti's singles match. The Tigers won three singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, in the two, five and six spots.

Micheletti teamed up with Earhart to win their doubles match before singles competition. With the team win, the women move to 4-2 with just one more spring break match to go, facing off against Notre Dame (Md.) Friday at 5:30 p.m.
