H1N1 Campus Hotline: (937) 327-7899 Additional Information: |
The Pandemic Flu response team at Wittenberg University is in place and is continuing to monitor activity related to the H1N1 virus. We are continuing to ask everyone to take preventative measures to ensure their health and well-being.
Important Resources:
Note from Wittenberg’s Medical Director Updated 3:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6
For a number of weeks, our medical staff reported seeing several students who likely have the H1N1 virus. Most cases have been mild, and most infected students have been able to go home to recuperate.
I am pleased to report that we did see any influenza A illnesses this week. We continue to take precautionary measures, of course, including increased cleaning of bathrooms and other common areas as well as encouraging students to wash their hands frequently and to get plenty of rest.
At this time, we are waiting to learn when we will be receiving more H1N1 vaccine. There are, however, weekly H1N1 vaccine flu clinics at the Clark County Fairgrounds for up to age 24, and up to age 64 with underlying medical conditions, as well as for pregnant women, healthcare workers, caregivers of children less than 6 months of age, etc. Students need to take their completed form from h1n1vaccine.odh.ohio.gov. Students and employees may find more information at www.ccchd.com.
As for the seasonal flu vaccine, we are also waiting to learn when we will be receiving it. Clark County currently does not have any more seasonal flu vaccine. Therefore, I am recommending that students try to get their seasonal flu shots anywhere they can especially when they are home during Thanksgiving or Christmas break.
As always, please know that the health and well-being of our students continue to be our top priority.
Cordially,
Kathryn G. McKee, M.D.
