Wittenberg Hosts Medieval Candlelight Vespers Service, Candlemas, Feb. 2
Historic Weaver Chapel is the site of one of Wittenberg's most cherished annual events at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, with the Medieval Candlelight Vespers Service, better known as Candlemas. The event takes place each year on the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord.

Wittenberg Series Welcomes Award-Winning Dance Company Feb. 6
The 2012-13 Wittenberg Series continues on Wednesday, Feb. 6, with a performance by Doug Varone and Dancers. The award-winning dance company will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in Kuss Auditorium at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, 300 S. Fountain Avenue.

Wittenberg's Upward Bound Program Accepting Applications For 2013
Wittenberg's Upward Bound Program, which works to stimulate interest in college among students of low-income families or families in which there is little history of college study, is accepting applications for new students. Applicants must be entering the ninth, 10th or 11th grades and live within the City of Springfield.

For award-winning author and history professor Peniel Joseph, the defining moments of the American civil rights movement were the topic of an engaging history lesson offered during Wittenberg's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Convocation.

Weaver Chapel Named One Of The World's Most Beautiful
Weaver Chapel has been ranked No. 9 on the list of "The 30 Most Beautiful College Cathedrals" by Best College Reviews. The ranking includes "some of the most artistic and complex architecture created by man. College campuses across the world have worship chapels and historical cathedrals that entail a rich history along with brilliant architectural design."

Wittenberg Creates Innovative Bullock Math Academy
Thanks to a generous investment by Springfield philanthropist Rosalyn Bullock, the new Bullock Math Academy will provide sought-after enrichment opportunities for local students who demonstrate a high aptitude in math. Students will start with the academy in seventh grade and stay with the academy through high school and beyond.

Prof. Emeritus Named Peace Hero By Dayton International Peace Museum
In recognition of his ongoing activities in the peace history movement and a donation of many of his groundbreaking books to the Dayton International Peace Museum Library, Wittenberg Professor Emeritus of History Charles Chatfield was recently honored as a "Peace Hero."

Wittenberg Music Department Releases Second iPhone App
Wittenberg University has released a music app for iPhone and iPod touch, its second in three years. The new app, called InTune, was approved by Apple earlier this month. InTune develops and tests users' ability to hear very close music pitches.

Wittenberg Students Earn Research Awards At Geography Conference
Three Wittenberg students were recognized for excellence in an undergraduate poster and paper competition at a joint meeting of the East Lakes and West Lakes Divisions of the American Association of Geography at Northern Illinois University in October.

Wittenberg Student Peace Alliance Recognized By Student Senate
Surprised to learn that Wittenberg did not have an active student organization to meet their concerns, the students began initiatives to establish an organization to represent their interests. In October, their efforts were rewarded as Student Senate officially approved and recognized the Wittenberg Student Peace Alliance.

For the 2013-2014 academic year, Wittenberg will freeze its tuition, room, board and fees for all students, marking the first time the nationally ranked liberal arts institution has moved in this direction.
