University Begins $13 Million In Improvements
Four Separate Projects Will Lead to Improved Community Living and Recreation

State-of-the-Art Residence Hall Slated for Fall 2006

In an effort to provide students with a range of high-quality housing options, the Board of Directors approved construction of a new state-of-the-art residence hall to be built on Alumni Way and completed in time for the start of the 2006-07 school year. Groundbreaking for the new hall, which will include 157 rooms with 195 total beds in 49,249 square feet of living space, took place on April 21. Fitness rooms and large gathering spaces will be also be located on each floor.

New Fitness Center Set to Open in August

Close to $2 million worth of improvements to Wittenberg's Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center will greet students upon their return to campus in August. The new Bob Rosencrans Hall of Honor Fitness Center will continue the nationally ranked university's long-standing commitment to health and well-being by providing top-of-the-line aerobic exercise equipment, including treadmills, bikes and rowing machines. A modern training and sports medicine facility will also be located in the fitness center, and advanced strength-training and cardiovascular equipment will fill the newly renovated weight room located nearby.

Wittenberg Upgrades Track and Artificial Turf in Stadium

Renovations to the Earl F. Morris Track and Edwards-Maurer Field, which will also include improvements to the Hoyt-Sullivan Pressbox on the north end of the field, began in early May. The track will be a Recotan Track surface, replacing the surface put down in 1993. Edwards-Maurer Field will be re-surfaced with 2-1/4 inch blades of artificial grass with granular sand and rubber in-fill.

Campus Dining Facilities Undergo Transformation

With its eclectic design and funky ambience, a new café called Post 95, which opened in January, kicked off a three-phase renovation of Wittenberg's dining facilities in the Benham-Pence Student Center. The year-and-half project will completely transform the Center Dining Room (CDR) to allow for a more modern and multi-functional dining experience. The food court will also be expanded. The entire renovation is expected to be completed by summer 2006.
