SPRINGFIELD, Ohio---When John Williams
directed the Wittenberg University Choir during the
1970s he established it as a world-class musical
group. It travelled the world, entertaining thousands
highlighting Wittenberg's quality and talented
students.
Williams, who is slowly losing his hearing
after a near-fatal bout with meningitis last year,
directed the Wittenberg choir last summer during a
reunion and Alumni Weekend Reunion.
That emotional event is the subject of a
Learning Channel documentary to air this week as part
of its "Reunion" series.
A 1967 Wittenberg graduate, Williams who is
not to be mistaken for the famed Hollywood composer,
has directed choirs for 25 years but will have to
give up life-long passion.
More than 70 of Williams' former choir
members who attended Wittenberg between 1969 and 1982
reunited to pay tribute to the man who influenced so
many.
The TLC program will air three times this
fall: 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, Friday Oct. 23
and Monday Nov. 16.
Banyan Productions of Philadelphia is
producing a daily afternoon documentary series which
will air over the next nine months. Each half-hour
episode follows two or more individuals as they
prepare for, anticipate and experience a reunion.
TLC reaches more than 58.4 million homes and
is the second-fastest growing basic cable network.
