WITTENBERG TO HOST ANNUAL COMMUNITY NIGHT

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-- Wittenberg University President Baird Tipson will host Community Night on Saturday, Sept. 11 when the Tiger football team hosts Baldwin-Wallace College in its 1999 season opener.

A public picnic will be held in a tent at Edwards-Maurer Field from 5 to 7 p.m. with kickoff slated at 7 p.m. Tickets for both events will be sold at the gate beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at 6:30 p.m. Tickets prices for the picnic dinner are $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under.

The Northwestern High School Marching Band will entertain at the picnic and on the field during both pre-game and halftime shows.

"We are again pleased to host Community Night, which is becoming a bigger event each year," Tipson said.

Fans are also being encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets and, weather permitting, sit on the hill at the north end of the stadium, which overlooks the playing field.

"We believe the hill on McCreight Avenue is a great venue to watch intercollegiate athletic events," Tipson said. "Edwards-Maurer Field is now one of the most beautiful facilities you will find in small college athletics."

Nickels Bakery, Marriott Food Service and Wittenberg Student Senate are helping to support the activity.
