A Letter from the President

I have just finished reviewing the events planned for this year's Wittenberg Series and, once again, I am impressed by the extraordinary variety of opportunities that exist on our campus. The education we offer is enhanced by exceptional cultural activities, community service, outstanding athletics and experiences that empower us all, instilling enthusiasm, compassion, optimism and faith that can sustain us today and in the future. We do seek to generate "light" and the Wittenberg Series is a stunning example of that light.

This year, as in the past, the faculty and students of the university's Committee on Programming have chosen timely speakers and superb performers for the Series. Of particular note, the two festival services at Weaver Chapel will complement the celebration of the 50th anniversary of its construction while commemorating the Lutheran heritage of the college.

We are grateful for the special endowments that fund lectures that help support the Series and allow us to offer all of these events free of admission to students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and the public.

Wittenberg's motto "Having Light We Pass It on to Others" is the foundation for the energy we experience at the university. I invite you to join us at the events of the Wittenberg Series and "experience that energy."

Sincerely,

Mark H. Erickson
President
