Selflessly sharing one’s gifts with others is the essence of humanity, the core of the liberal arts, and the heart of Wittenberg’s mission. The 2009-2010 Wittenberg Series schedule represents our 165th consecutive year of sharing the gifts of the arts and sciences with our neighbors and friends.
This year’s series continues our tradition of program offerings that celebrate and nourish the mind, body and spirit. Joining us this year will be urban expert David Rusk, poet Elizabeth Alexander, Three Cups of Tea author Greg Mortenson, Lutheran scholar Deanna Thompson, National Public Radio’s “math guy” Keith Devlin, Netherland author Joseph O’Neill, and medieval history scholar William Chester Jordan. The Acting Company theatre group and Grammy-winning acappella ensemble Chanticleer will also perform, and we will welcome back one of our own alumni, distinguished artist Robert Kipniss, class of 1952.
During these challenging times, I am particularly grateful to the individuals and families whose support and donations continue to make it possible for us to share the Series with you. I hope you will join us for one or more of these wonderful programs.
Warm regards,
Mark H. Erickson, President
