This section of your background is SECRET. Do not share it with any other PC. Do your best to complete your goals without the other players realizing it.
Devout as you are, your faith has labeled you as a heretic. Your personal beliefs are seen as out of sync with that of your faith’s church, though you still receive all the typical benefits of being a ‘devout’ character. However, you have since joined a new order: a gathering of faiths called the Order of Seropaenes. Keep in mind, since you are a heretic, few temples will offer you succor.
The Order of Seropaenes, operating out of the Tower of Woe, is devoted to the outright destruction of all those who practice the vile art of “binding”. Binding stands outside of the order of divine/arcane magics and threatens the very order upon which the world works. Sir Michael Ambrose, the leader of the Seropaenes, has issued you to track down a dangerous binder rumored to be hiding within Blackfall. Furthermore, Sir Ambrose has heard rumors of a new vestige—an entity from which binders draw their power—connected in some way to Blackfall. Find out more information on this vestige, known only as Y’Golonac, and confiscate/destroy all written material dealing with it. If you encounter any resistance, eliminate it with extreme prejudice.Deep within the bowels of Blackfall lies the ruined laboratory of infamous necromancer Jason Sa-Raine. Rumored to hold a version of the mythic Infernal Device—a machine build to graft demonic grafts to willing (and unwilling) persons—Sa-Raine’s laboratory was partially destroyed by Bertrand, the newly installed High Acolyte of Pelor, following the death of Vortigern.
However, while Sa-Raine died in Bertrand’s raid, his demonically augmented undead held the lab against Bertrand’s troops. That was two months ago. Since the lab is deep within the Blackfall sewer system, the acolytes of Pelor have decided to simply have the sewers sealed off, rather than try to wipe out the leaderless undead.
However, Jason Sa-Raine’s research still remains…as does the Infernal Device…
