A trip to Unviersity of Dayton's Con XV

On Saturday February 9th, 2008 a group of Wittenberg Guild Members took at trip down to University of Dayton to attend their Role-Playing Convention. Here are a few of the pictures from the eventfull trip.

PVP D&D Setting up the Map:
Yes those are two MondoMats (tm) Chessex being taped together on the table.
The fellow in the orange shirt is Scott O. from Wright States Role-Playing organizations. He also ran the PVP Event.
At the left you will see one of the Guild Alumni, Jules M. and your favorite Patriarch Lionel W.
PVP D&D The Hill:
At one end of the field is a hill, as marked by the figure shown here.
You will have to play in one of these PVP events to find out what the deal is with The Hill.
PVP D&D Surveying The Battlefield:
The Hill was not the only thing on the battlefield, there were other obstacles and battlefieldy goodness on the map, some were provided by others attending the convention. It made for a interesting battlefield.
PVP D&D Building Characters:
Ok, so we had to build our own characters for the PVP, and here they are:
    Saint Cuthebert's Cullers:
  • Exorcist Michael: 5th Level Human Cleric (Portrayed by Jules M.)
  • Inquisitor Balthanis: 5th Level Human Rogue (Portrayed by Andy K.)
  • Acolyte Heirophonius: 5th Level Human Ranger (Portrayed by Lionel W.)
PVP D&D Saint Cuthbert's Cullers:
What strategy should Saint Cuthbert's Cullers use to smite the heathens???
    (From left to right):
  • Acolyte Heirophonius: 5th Level Human Ranger (Portrayed by Lionel W.)
  • Exorcist Michael: 5th Level Human Cleric (Portrayed by Jules M.)
  • Inquisitor Balthanis: 5th Level Human Rogue (Portrayed by Andy K.)
PVP D&D The Atlanteans:
The opposition: Allen, Reginald, Ronnin (Charcter names)
PVP D&D Small skirmish on the massive Battlefield:
This view shows our skirmish in action on the battlefield. If you look closely you can see our figures.
PVP D&D Acolyte Down!:
    (characters from left to right):
  • Green painted mini: Ronnin the Ranger
  • Short dark mini: Reginald the Cleric
  • Gray figure away from skirmish: Inquisitor Balthanis
  • Fallen gray figure: Acolyte Heirophonius (deceased)
  • Painted sword bearing figure: Allen
  • Gray figure with staff: Exorcist Michael

Inquisitor Balthanis' was blown out from underneath him by a necklace of fireballs, from the opposing Cleric named Reginald.
Acolyte Heirophonius spent his time with trying to slice and dice the opposing Ranger, named Ronin who used ranged attacks, with his Longsword and shortsword.
Exorcist Michael did manage to command the opposing Fighter, Allen, to fall of his horse.
Eventually Ronin, with the healing help of Reginald, managed to fell Heirphonius, despite taking several rounds of 20+ points of damage (darn you heathen cleric Reginald!).
Excorsist Michael tried to save the Acolyte, but did not make it there in time. Having failed to save the Acolyte, Michael decided to jump over the smoldering corpse of the Acolyte and his horse, but instead was sliced down in mid-jump by Allen's mighty greatsword.
Inquisitor Balthanis managed to be the only one from our team to survive the ordeal because time ran out.

LARP Array of Weapons:
There was a LARP event happening at the same time, and this is just a sample of the Nerf weapons in the arsenal.
Alas you fellow Guilders did not actively participate in the LARP. Although when we first opened the elevator to make our way to the Con, we were greeted by three "Gun Wielding" LARPers. Talk about an interesting surprise, and welcome to a Convention!
LARP Perfect Shot:
This is what a roll of a natural 20 looks like in LARPing terms!
Bell, Book and Comic
The gang from Bell, Book and Comic sitting back and enjoying UD Con XV.
Krystal Keep:
After UD Con XV we made a stop at Krystal Keep.
Krystal Keep:
Where we saw our friend Larry Wicks' W.E.G.S. 101: Old Skool books on the shelves!
Model: Jules M.
Krystal Keep:
They even had it on the front counter on display! I hope Larry doesn't get upset with this choice of models.
