Fall 2017 Campaigns

The Holders of the End

  • System: Cold Steel Wardens: Roleplaying in the Iron Age of Comics
  • GameMaster: Andy P. K.
(Guild Primogen & creator of Cold Steel Wardens)
  • Description: Rebecca Buchanan's body, face-down in the Miatanka River, thumps against the side of a police tugboat. One of the dredgers from New Corinth City Works loops a hook over her lifeless form and hauls her water-bloated corpse onto the deck. Rebecca's corpse lands face-up as the dredger gags with revulsion; the red-blue flash of the police boat's lights alternate across the tiny mirrors left behind in her hollowed eye-sockets. From somewhere deep within the city, Rebecca's sightless eyes gaze lifelessly upon the horrors that have only begun to conquer the New Corinth night...
NOTE: This campaign will focus heavily on horror, occult elements, and investigation. Inspirations include Shutter Island, Se7en, Pi, Black Swan, the Netflix Jessica Jones series, and the Netflix Black Mirror series. Hard R themes; combat-focused characters need not apply.

Plague of Strahd

  • System: Dungeons and Dragons 5e
  • GameMaster: Brice P.
  • Description: "A letter has come to the door of your company, written in a pleasant hand and addressed to all of you personally. It's heavier than most and clinks a little as you open it apparently it has a few platinum coins in it, along with your sudden, and of course genuine, interest. A short skimming of it gives you the gist; some noble, blah blah blah, would like your help, blah blah blah, will reward you handsomely with both money and magic? Now that's what we're talking about! But who is this noble requesting your help hmm? Oh, it's signed here as 'Your Friend, Strahd von Zarovich'? Hmmm sounds a bit like a ponce."
NOTE: This will be an edited version of the Curse of Strahd, with a mix of homebrew elements. I'm able to run it for up to 5 players

  • GameMaster: Chris M.
  • Description: Centuries ago the Mists came from the West, their rampant magics warping and twisting all living things that came in contact with them. Civilization crumbled and the people of the world fled the approaching calamity. This was when the Towers first rose forth, their massive crystal cores emitting magic powerful enough to stave off the mist and save the people, but the beasts of the land were corrupted, savage, and craved the blood of the people. As people built larger and larger cities within the massive towers it became clear they needed more than mere soldiers to stand between them and the cursed world below. In the Tower of Verick, they have three groups. The Rats, to explore, scout and report from the Root of the Tower; the Watch to protect the Archmagus and the Rich; and the Dogs, mercenary soldiers who travel forth to do the work no one else is capable of, to seek bounties, lost treasures, investigate threats to the safety of the people, and most of all, to respond when the monsters reach the cities and drive them off. You are one of the Dogs of Verick, placing yourself between the people of the Tower and the threats of the unknown, for fun and profit.

Spring 2017 Campaigns

Shattered Memeories

  • System: Werewolf the Apocalypse (Word of Darkness)
  • GameMaster: Brenden B.
  • Description: Deep in the Mountains of Song to Gaia, lies the village called the Hymn of Howl, a place where traditions of the Garou are kept and peace is maintained. The creation of this village was to make sure that your species of being will continue to live on in the modern ages of humans. At the edge of the village lies a large mansion, abandoned for years and decay has taken its toll. This mansion has seen better days... or at least it may have been, that way, the Elder thought. Fearing this may have come with some evil intent the Elder Nyx sent scouts to investigate the strange manor. None of the scouts sent out had returned and Nyx had forbidden the exploration going near the mansion. Soon after life began to ebb away, wildlife slowly began to die and vegetation withered to nothing. A strange mist rolled out and covered the town, forcing the world that the mist has swallowed to change randomly into the Umbra. The mist hides many secrets, shadows moving about ripping into the structures and screams of the people piercing the night air. The only option to save the traditions and to force back this evil would be for the Elder to ask for help. Nyx called on the help of the Garou leader of the Fangs of Garm, Erebus Dragomiir. An envelope with the crest of the Fangs sigil stamped in the red wax is carried by you. The question is now do you open it?

The mage-templar war has ignited the land into firestorm and red lyrium grows unchecked throughout the land. But, in times of great peril, heroes are forged. You are agents of the Inqusition, tasked with meeting one of Sister Nightingale's agents in Dunnsmouth, a ramshackle town in the bogs of the the Fallow Mire. Venatori agents have been sighted in the area, scouring sunken ruins for reasons unknown. Investigate the area, thwart the Venatori, and bring The Maker's justice to the realm!
"There in the depths of the earth they dwelled, spreading their taint as a plague, growing in number until they were a multitude. And together, they searched ever deeper, until they found their prize, their god, their betrayer." --Threnodies, 8:27
Note: We will be using the Dragon Age RPG system and major setting elements, though the adventure itself comes from the Lamentations of the Flame Princess game. No prior experience is needed with either system. This game is set during the events of the Dragon Age: Inquisition video game.

Era of the Ninja (RPG)
  • System: Era of the Ninja (RPG)
  • GameMaster: E. Ebbs
  • Description: Welcome to a distant land from the past where the gods have finished the creation of the world and have established mankind as their successors. In doing so, they have left a set of rules for the race of man to follow before turning their interest to other areas. The realm is left in the hands of the hierarchy of man with lords and samurai ruling over all others.
Quickly realizing the extent of their power, the lords were corrupted by their own greed and depravities, oppressing their peoples. Ignoring their duties from the heavens, dark forces now start to roam the land again.
Many of the wise elders, unable to change the current system, decided to create a group outside the system to create the needed changes. Thus the Ninja clans were created.
Players will take on the role of Ninja attempting to make the needed changes, while placing their lives on the line.

People infected were twisted, desiccated, and wandered mindlessly searching for more people to infect. The walking dead brought about by machines, Techno-Zombies. They tore the nation apart, people consolidated, locking themselves in cities, behind massive walls, each borough capable of being separated from the others in case of infection. A new government agency, known by the public as Hammer, patrols the cities, protects the people from the nanomachine virus by any means necessary. But, you are safe. New Springfield has never seen a single case of infection. Nothing could possibly go wrong, right?

A New War

  • System: Dungeons and Dragons 5e (Heavily Home Brewed)
  • GameMaster: Cinda R & Istvan "Fish" V.
  • Description: The year is 1962 when the bombs dropped. The Cuban Missile Crisis went deadly very quickly. This was the war that ended the world as people knew it. The people of the old world called those bombs "nuclear," but they were more magical. The "radiation" has caused the world to be magically infused. It is now 400 years after that first bomb drop, and people are doing alright. Settlements can be found across the country that used to be known as China. Although life can be found everywhere, that doesn't mean it is safe. It's a harsh world out there with several different layers of magical zones. No matter the dangers, two groups have arisen. They've decided to take matters into their own hands and unite the country under their rule.... Whether or not the intentions are good is another story.
Disclaimer: This will be a rough world with possible PVP. Heavy homebrew!
  • Experience Level: Some experience recommended but not required!

Invasion

  • System: Legend of the Five Rings (4e)
  • GameMaster: Joseph D.
  • Description: Rokugan has just been invaded by legions from the Yodotai (think pseudo-Roman) Empire. The military crisis is expected to bring the Clans together even as it offers opportunities for dark domestic forces to take advantage of the situation. Beyond martial vulnerabilities Rokugan's culture and centuries-old traditions will also be threatened by the unfamiliar gaijin. Will the samurai of the Emerald Empire repel the foreign army, fight to the death trying, or yield and allow their values and way of life to be forever changed?
For the setting of Legend of the Five Rings imagine feudal pseudo-Japan + gender equality + magic, a kind of Asian-themed Game of Thrones with different Clans and a number of families within each, vying politically and militarily for preeminence. Play a warrior-samurai, a spell-caster priest, a socially manipulative courtier, an itinerant monk, or honorless Ronin scum. Every character is enmeshed in a complex hierarchy of status, a culture of honor, and a network of obligations and enemies. You have to learn to negotiate decorum, danger, your Clan's agenda, and your personal goals.

It also marked the beginning of what may be known as "The Age of Supers", for in the months after the battle young children began developing superhuman abilities, at first only within the city but the effect has spread. Where before the number of people with powers might be counted on one hand, now almost 1/3 of all youth are "Supers". You are one such group of youths, raised by a mysterious man known as Baron Grey on the outskirts of "Zero City". • GameMaster: Chris McDaniels
  • Description: The city of Allenport has never been the safest of places. Monster sightings, strange disappearances, criminals, mutants, they say if it's weird or dangerous, you can probably find it. Not that many people believe in the monsters or occult happenings, they figure it's just bad drugs or the crazies that flock to the parks to "feel the city's aura" overreacting. What is true is that there is a thriving underworld, drug rings, smugglers, arms dealers, just about ever type of scum imaginable. You've been fighting the criminals in this city for a little while, but you can't seem to make much of a dent. You've heard two interesting rumors recently though, one is that all the crime in this city is financed by a figure known only as Pluton, the other is that someone new is moving in to take them down, probably to claim the city as their own.
