Helpful tips:
  • If you plan on GMing a game be sure to have pre-generated characters on hand for the players, so you don't take up that time generating the characters during your session. If there are special requirements for your game please let us know as well, and we'll post that along with the game summary.
  • Be aware that we can have more games than there are sessions, since we have tables in the atrium for games as well as the ability to set up tables in 105. So don't fret too much if you do see that the session you wanted is already taken.

  2. It should have at least three distinctive colors of paint on it
  3. It should have a finished base
  4. It should "Family" friendly. While we understand that there are some violent and provocative miniatures out there, please consider that we reserve the right to disallow a miniature if it might be too much for the younger members of our audience.
  5. Finally it should be painted by you and not a pre-painted mini or one you brought to the competition on behalf of some-one else

A multitude of scenarios with a variety of characters will be presented to those whom arrive, and due to the SHEAR ACTION PACKED nature of these games a single hour session will likely see multiple scenarios unfold.
Any explosion effects will have their action cranked up and gore cranked down, young children still not preferred as some mature themes may be present, though the massive body count will largely be implied.

Even worse, the runes are unclear as to the outcome of the meeting, but have foretold that the Thing will be an event fraught with danger. Fearing that tensions could ruin a potential alliance, Kjari has decided to host the Thing at the remote village of Ann, home to a sacred site that all the clans revere. Unfortunately, legend says a beast also makes claim to that site.

  • GM: Sam H. (Guild Scribe)
  • System: Sundered Skies - Savage Worlds

  • Description: Among the many secret societies in the Sundered Skies is one known simply as the Circle of Nine. One of the Circle, Caryl the Fair, set sail on The Summoner, intent on finding a place in the void where the gods' influence was weakest and she would be able to open a huge portal to hell. That was 27 years ago - The Summoner was never heard of or seen again. Then only a month or so ago, a small band of Scavengers came across a ghostly ship in the void...
    Era of the Ninja

  • System: Board Game

  • Ages: 13+
  • Description: Era of the Ninja is a game stealth and combat where players take on the role of ninja attempting to eliminate the lord of a castle in feudal Japan. Players may sneak through the castle or fight, but must be careful as the enemy is actively searching. As the players succeed, Ingenuity is gained and can be used to increase their arsenal of equipment or gain new skills for use in the search for the lord. Combat against enemy units has a wound mechanic that allows players to weaken their enemy before dealing a final blow and characters also have the use of mystical ki to help them overcome the obstacles ahead of them. Players must be careful though as the enemy gains strength in numbers. Players must find a way to survive long enough to locate defeat the lord to claim victory. Be careful though as only one player can be declared the victor, the one that defeats the lord!
There are two sessions of two hours each.
    The Asian Vacation
  • Room: Shouvlin 207 (2:00pm to 6:00pm)
  • GM: Sterling C.
  • Players: 5
  • Ages: 15+
  • Description: An action, combat-oriented Classic World of Darkness game in which the player characters (PCs) will be employed by a Werewolf Glass Walker to carry out a series of missions which will elevate her corporation's presence throughout Asia. Players will be able to select the character of their choice from a mix of pre-generated Vampire, Werewolf and Changing Breeds characters. Prior knowledge of The Classic World of Darkness system or prior experience playing Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse or The Changing Breeds would be a plus.
    Fiasco
  • Room: Shouvlin 207 (2:00pm to 6:00pm)
  • GM: Andy P.
  • System: Fiasco
  • Players: 2-4
  • Ages: 15+
  • Description: You're a substitute middle school science teacher's aid on the verge of a major breakthrough in quantum thermodynamic string theory. Your jealous ex-husband, Javier VonGoldstein-Anderson, doesn't want to see your name in the papers so he and his idiot half-brother try to ruin the radioactive string samples you keep in your garage. The radiation makes the idiot brother a genius and it literally turns Javier inside-out. Javier goes on a hugging spree that starts a plague, and you are arrested for the possession of contraband materials. While you're in jail you are infected with the plague and spontaneously combust. Twice.
The characters, setting, and motivations in Fiasco are generated on the spot; the above story is just one of an infinite number of scenarios that can be played out. One thing is unavoidable, though: a game of tears-running-down-your-face-from-uncontrollable-laughter brought on by awful ideas, terrible execution, and unparalleled predicaments worthy of The 11th Hour.

Session B: 7:00pm to 11:00pm

  • GM: N/A
  • System: Board Games

  • Ages: 3+

    Gloom
  • Room: Shouvlin 105 (7:00pm to 11:00pm)
  • GM: Victoria L.
  • System: Gloom card game
  • Players: Many
  • Ages: 13+
  • Description: The world of Gloom is a sad and benighted place. The sky is gray, the tea is cold, and a new tragedy lies around every corner. Debt, disease, heartache, and packs of rabid flesh-eating mice -- just when it seems like things can't get any worse, they do. But some say that one's reward in the afterlife is based on the misery endured in life. If so, there may yet be hope -- if not in this world, then in the peace that lies beyond.
In the Gloom card game, you assume control of the fate of an eccentric family of misfits and misanthropes. The goal of the game is sad, but simple: you want your characters to suffer the greatest tragedies possible before passing on to the well-deserved respite of death. You'll play horrible mishaps like Pursued by Poodles or Mocked by Midgets on your own characters to lower their Self-Worth scores, while trying to cheer your opponents' characters with marriages and other happy occasions that pile on positive points. The player with the lowest total Family Value wins.
    Crop Harvest

  • GM: Jake H.
  • System: Only War
  • Players: 4-6

A Rogue Trader is being paid to sneak your squad onto the planet. Unfortunately that's all the information they deemed important for you to know, sorry. You'll be working with guardsmen from across the Imperium, a rare experience. I don't like giving away a good soldier from under my command but I can't disobey orders. Good luck guardsman. Ave Imperator."

  • GM: Lionel W. (The Guild Patriarch)
  • System: The Quiet Year
  • Players: 2-6
  • Ages: 13+
  • Description: For a long time, we were at war with The Jackals. But now, we've driven them off, and we have this - a year of relative peace. One quiet year, with which to build our community up and learn once again how to work together. Come Winter, the Frost Shepherds will arrive and we might not survive beyond that. But we don't know about that yet. What we know is that right now, in this moment, there is an opportunity to build something.
The Quiet Year is a map game. You define the struggles of a post-apocalyptic community, and attempt to build something good within their quiet year. Every decision and every action is set against a backdrop of dwindling time and rising concern.
