Members Present: Will Chinn, Beth Hurst, Erika Franz, Jared Collins, Ben Burkam, Ann Bixel, Elise Renz, Alyssa Bray, Jennifer Brubaker, Katie Seay, Bruce Robinson, Whitney Morrison, Karen Obee, Ben Siemer, Kristyn Russell, Yusef Abdul-Zahir, Petal Morais

Call To Order: Meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m.


I. Call to Order/Roll Call/Minutes Approved

II. Special Order-
A. none

III. Officer Reports-
A. Kristyn (SAC)- starting a newsletter for athletes, want to promote unity among athletes and encourage more support from students, thinking about having an athlete banquet, 1st meeting is this Thursday, summer survey
B. Alyssa (Soph. Class)- 1st mtg is this week, talking about having contest and making soph class t-shirts
C. Petal (AIA)- 1sst meeting is tonight @ Polis House
D. Ben (RHA)- elections for new student to be fundraising chair
E. Bruce (Off Campus)- plans for a off campus picnic in the parking lot for a fun, get to know your neighbors deal
F. Yusef (CBS)- had leadership conference Sat., made goals for the year; 1st general meeting is this Wed.
G. Whitney (EPC)- 1st mtg is tomorrow in Hollenbeck with committee
H. Ann (Sr. Class)- Sr. Night is tomorrow night @ Station One, Sr. Wine and Cheese night in the works
I. Katie (Greek)-Sept. 15 Greek Luau 7-9 on Stoughton Lawn, wear Go Greek shirts, American Cherry playing, rain-out site is old gym; Informal recruitment is Sept. 20-24; Greek Week is Sept. 27-Oct. 2; ADPi is have car wash on Sept. 11 in their parking lot (donations only); DG Anchor Bash is Sept. 18 (details to come); KD has Operation Water Balloon with Betas on Sept. 19; Sigma Kappa having memory walk on Oct. 2 and selling suckers at North vs. South high school football game (both for Alzheimer’s research)

IV. Committee Reports-
A. Finance (Jared)- roll over account of about $31,000; met with Sue Apple, trying to pull more money for us; still need to give Sr. Class and BABW $5,000 and $10,000 respectively, discussed options of asking other clubs (mainly Torch, WUSO, and Union Board) for half of what they have in their roll over accounts, decided it was a good idea; treasurer workshops next week, will stress having to appear at spring budget hearings to clubs (use this opportunity to email the clubs you are a liaison to, remind them to go)
B. BABW (Beth)- lots of proposals, but no money
C. Elections (Erika)- Freshman elections are rolling; Packets out on 9/1 (Wed.); Signatures and applications due by 5:00 pm on 9/7 (Tues) to Box #2458; Mandatory Mtg on 9/7 @ 5:30pm in senate office; Campaigning begins at 12:01 am on 9/8 (Wed.); Campaigning stops at midnight on 9/15 (Wed.); Elections will be held on 9/16 from 9am-9pm in student center; passed around sheet to sign up to work elections table

V. Open Forum-
A. Whitney- Michael Dickson, Business Club, came at the end last year, needed to change constitution, was wondering when they can be approved by senate, email Will to get on agenda
B. Ann- can we get a printer cartridge in the senate office; Sr. class officers were thinking about reevaluating speakers for graduation, what do we think about distinguished alumni? Liked the idea
C. Katie- can we do anything for Sept. 11? Decided on banner to hang in student center, where were you when it happened…..Beth is going to head up the project

VI. Old Business-
A. Soap (Carolyn)- haven’t done soap and paper towels in bathrooms for 16 years, cost huge amount each semester, won’t change permanently any time soon
B. Email (Will)- emailed Joe Deck, who sent out email to all students, has got situation under control
C. Escort (Bruce)- should have been running since beginning of school, not sure what went wrong that first week, it is def up and running now
D. Convocation (Will)- tomorrow, meet at 10:45 am in library in AV department, dress business casual
E. Golf Scramble (Will)- received thank you from Kristen Collier, gave $150 to Interfaith Hospitality golf scramble that was held today
F. Treasurer’s workshops (Jared)- Sept. 8, 9, 13 at 3:30-5, 7-8:30, and 7-8:30
G. Frisbee Golf- physical plant needs to move hole b/c it always breaks a window in Zimmerman, need input as to where to move it, Ben S. took up task

VII. New Business-
A. Cecil & Lime Café- new business, interested in giving Witt Student Discount, Katie is going to go see them and give them any info they need to get that done
B. Constitutional Changes-
-legislative powers B1 and B2, will vote to take them out next week
-College Hill Association, used to work with neighbors and promote unity in the blocks of houses in and around Witt, Bruce is willing to try to revive it
C. Parents’ Weekend- Wesbecher looking for our help to put on pep rally during parents weekend, Ben S. willing to head up project, last year we did t-shirts and drum corps, this year maybe towels or clappers and hopefully drum corps or pep band
D. FSC and committees- we need to get on top of making committees, tell interested students to email stusenate@witt..... Or sign up at activities fair
E. CBS- is interested in starting panel on diversity, would like senate to be host, of course we were interested, also Dean Perkins
