Members Present: Will Chinn, Beth Hurst, Erika Franz, Elise Renz, Alyssa Bray, Jennifer Brubaker, Katie Seay, Bruce Robinson, Whitney Morrison, Karen Obee, Ben Siemer, Kristyn Russell, Yusef Abdul-Zahir, Petal Morias

Call To Order: Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
I. Call to Order/Roll Call/Minutes Approved
II. Special Order-
A. Jewish Culture Club (Rebekah Wiener and Reanne ?) Rochelle Millen
is the Faculty Advisor; read letter and part of constitution, stressed
lack of Jewish community on campus; goals: bi-monthly Shabot dinners,
Jewish movie nights, activities with WCA, co-sponsored events with Jewish
Student Groups nearby; would cancel out existing Jewish Student Movement
which is not active; religious focus but also social and cultural- any
non-Jewish students welcome at any events; first reading of constitution-vote
on it next week
III. Officer Reports-
A. Ann (Sr. Class)- looking to sell Witt pint glasses or air fresheners
or both; selling Witt ornaments at Parents’ Weekend and Homecoming
B. Elise (Jr. Class)- looking into a Jr. Night; also King’s Island
trip
C. Bruce (Off-Campus)- talked to Carl today and can block off Sprecker
for festival, but need a month in advance for the parking lot near the
football field; starting up Witt Watch- old campus job to walk around
in pairs from 10pm-4am with radios to dispatch, need funds maybe from
student development; trying to make it a campus job again; groups are
signing up for campus clean up
D. Jen (Independent)- talked to mom about magnetic ribbons, will order
extra for us
E. Whitney (EPC)- needs new committee, got list
F. KTC (Greek)- Sigs: March of Dimes drawing on Thursday; ADPi’s:
raised over $300 for car wash; DG: Anchor Bash Saturday; KD: Operation
Water Balloon cancelled, women’s friendship day Sunday- movie
in dorms; Sigma Kappa: Memory Walk on Oct 2nd- $15 a team; Greek Week
week after next; Informal Rush next week; “Luau”(aka Ice
Cream Social) all campus, 7-9 tomorrow w/ American Cherry playing 7:30-8:30
G. Carolyn- Bruce should talk to her about Witt Watch; everyone notice
the article in the paper about the flag
H. Beth (VP)- passed around article, thanks for everyone for helping
I. Erika (Sec.)- passed out IN-House sheet, extras near our mailboxes
J. Kristyn (SAC)- newsletter in the works; everything else is still
coming along
K. Alyssa (Soph. Pres.)- posters coming now advertising class t-shirts,
contest for design
L. Petal (AIA)- mtg. moved to Thursday; will meet with Holly about Halloween
Trick or Treat
M. Karen (PR)- need men for PR committee
N. Ben S. (RHA)- fundraising and Polis rep. came to mtg.; going to have
“Trading Spaces” fundraiser- buy $2 ticket or 3 for $5,
winner gets $150 of stuff put in your room
IV. Committee Reports-
A. Finance (Jared)- treasurer’s workshops went well; approved
budget
B. BABW (Beth)- committee formed; mtg. this week; already four proposals;
purpose is to help fund non-Senate funded groups for events open to
public (Springfield community)
C. Elections (Franz)- elections all ready to go; don’t forget
when you are working; discussed need for ID’s before they vote
V. Open Forum-
A. Posting Policy- Dawn Hensler- Will says they have had some complaints;
would like us to add that groups/maker of signs must put name on advertisement
and get rid of ability to use masking tape; discussed need for anonymous
flyers, good technique, also tape is necessary so just fine them more
B. Honor Council (Kristyn)- can they put out applications at elections
table? Yes; need 3 senators to sit in on interviews- Beth, Karen, Erika
C. Freshman Voting (Kristyn)- constitution does not say anything about
requiring IDs, discussed checking name and box number instead, requiring
IDs could discourage voters
D. Meet the Senators (Jen)- need for getting our names out there, maybe
also meeting the new officers on security too? Jen will set up time,
maybe Tuesday Oct. 5 @ 5-7
E. CDR Food (Ben S.)- need to set up a meeting with Dixie, MUCHO complaints
this year; Petal- reduced variety and time slot (only 2 hr. window);
do something soon, don’t wait
F. Harassment on Campus- Carl Looney said he can only “nickel
and dime it”; aren’t doing anything against the law; keep
calling and they will keep patrolling it
VI. Old Business-
A. Football Game/ Meal Swap- things did not work out, just go to the
game and support the Tigers!
B. Security Council- New blue, black, and white undercover cars patrolling;
also undercover cops coming to parties to help keep it under control;
24 hr. service window in the annex of Reci.- there to help visitors,
pick up keys to buildings, etc.; graffiti on campus- report it immediately
to security
C. Constitutional Changes- legislative powers B1 and B2 voted to get
rid of them
D. Please post your completed committees on the wall in the office
E. Senate T-shirts- Beth will take charge, Ben S. and Ann will help
out
VII. New Business-
A. Hurricane Relief- spare change jar to sit on elections table; will
donate all of those funds to WCA
VIII. Senator of the Week- none, new one next week after Torch (with a stellar pic of Franz) comes out
IX. Words for Witt
