Members Present : Will Chinn, Beth Hurst, Erika Franz, Ann Bixel, Elise Renz, Alyssa Bray, Jennifer Brubaker, Katie Seay, Bruce Robinson, Whitney Morrison, Karen Obee, Ben Siemer, Kristyn Russell, Yusef Abdul-Zahir, Petal Morias, Mark Preston

Call To Order:       Meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

•  Call to Order/Roll Call/Minutes Approved

•  Special Order-

•  Chemistry Club (Natalie Muir ’05)- first reading of the constitution

•  Get Out the Vote Concert (Brendan Norman ’06)- proposal for Senate to help sponsor concert, College Democrats and Republicans putting it on, hope to bring break off group from Dispatch, Wittmen Crew, Just Eve, and Lamarr Lewis, along with Democrat and Republican speakers, estimated cost around $5000, can Senate give anything to help out?- voted on later

•  Officer Reports-

•  Katie (Greek)- IFC cosponsoring Kill Bill Vol. 2 Oct. 29 th ; ADPi’s Sexual Assault Speaker Monday Oct. 25 th ; DG’s tonight @ 8pm sorority ice cream social; KD’s self defense speaker going on right now; GphiB teeter-totter-a-thon Oct. 27-28; Oct. 14 th PBS special on hazing @ either 8 or 9 pm

•  Yusef (CBS)- planning upcoming election forum aiming to educate voters on Thursday, Oct. 28 th @ 7:30pm in Bayley Aud.

•  Petal (AIA)- working on Crossroads, collecting $; planning Meijers trip on Friday for international students who will be here over Fall Break

•  Jen (Independent)- sold 35 ribbons @ the football game, made $126.30 for care packages; will be asking campus for addresses of troops overseas to send packages to

•  Kristyn (SAAC)- bringing in speaker in Feb. either on sportsmanship or stress management

•  Mark (Freshman Class)- t-shirt design set so rolling ahead with them, has found a cabinet/council to take place at the end of the month

•  Carolyn- will be in Chapel on Thursday kissing frogs!; in the residence halls on Nov. 2 in Woodlawn for cookies with the Dean and Nov. 9 in Hanley for stress anxiety management

•  Ben S. (RHA)- pep rally this weekend was a disaster! Lots of people, but no pep band, cheerleaders, or t-shirts…will be much better at Homecoming; RHA has new position open for Woodlawn rep., will begin reviewing applications

•  Elise (Jr. Class)- Oct. 29 th non-alcoholic Jr. Class event Haunted House from 8-11pm, should be $10 per person

•  Ann (Sr. Class)- Senior Wine and Cheese went very well, lots of Seniors there with parents; Etiquette Dinner Nov. 11, $12, let Ann know if you want to attend

•  Bruce (Off-Campus)- anyone wanting to help with Sexology Week come meet with Bruce

•  Alyssa (Soph. Class)- hard to get involvement, might sell mesh shorts instead of t-shirts, had open forum, but no one came

•  Will- security council report out, check it out

•  Committee Reports-

•    Beth (BABW)- two hearing today; $1500 to Dr. Doubt and his honors class for their trip to Bosnia and Symposium held when they get back; $250 or $400 to Delta Tau Delta for their Texas Hold’em tournament to benefit Kenwood Elementary; still looking for 2 at large member

•  Karen (PR)- made flyers & sent email for Pep Rally, more to come @ Homecoming

•  Ben (Faculty/Student)- Faculty meeting on the 5 th went well

•  Open Forum-

•  HALO router (Mark)- people complaining because it has been shut down, what happened? Carolyn- we have been told by the company that we must, some students are file sharing and violating copyright laws, call Joe Deck with any questions

•  Got BEEF Day (Beth)- encourage fellow Senators to come (to all Senate events), poor Senate attendence

•  CDR (Ben S.)- getting better, but bottom line is that we still need to meet with Dixie about our concerns; they did put out a survey today

•  Old Business-

•  NONE

•  New Business-

•  Witt Food Bank- email from Forrest- discussed the idea, Bruce brought up that any Witt students on work study already have the option of getting food stamps, so we don’t feel that there is a need for this or that it could be monitored in a way that it would work (kids would take more than they need or not replace it)

•  Get Out the Vote Concert- after discussion, Ben S. motioned to vote, Ann seconded, voted on giving $1500 to the concert, approved

•  Senator of the Week-

•  Words for Witt

•  Adjournment- 8:00- went into working groups to work on Halloween Trick or Treating, Homecoming Pep Rally, CDR, and Sexology Week
