History of Wittenberg Ultimate

Wittenberg's Ultimate Frisbee team reformed in the Spring of 1998 after having existed some years before.  The team took the name Shibumi (Japanese for effortless perfection) and reentered intercollegiate play at Club Sectionals '98 in Versailles, OH.  A much more detailed history of Wittenberg Ultimate is forthcoming...

The recent past has brought turbulence and splendor to the Ultimate Club of Wittenberg University.  The 2001-2002 school year saw the club lose its official "club" status and its budget due to poor leadership.  However, the club still thrived and played some of the best Ultimate ever.  Most notably was the Friday in October when the sky released its deluge.  The rain and sweat mingled to make a concoction that fueled the bodies of the club.  That Friday, some sweet Ultimate was played.

The Club regained "club" status as well as a budget in 2002.  From the fall of 2003 to the spring of 2005, under the guidance of our fearless leader, Mike Schelle, Wittenberg Ultimate thrived as never before.  From Ohio to Indiana to Kentucky, our dedicated team braved bad weather and seedy motels, all in the name of ultimate glory (and post-game-day parties).  In the spring of 2006, Witt hosted its first ever tournament, an indoor hat tourney in January, which included teams from Witt, Marietta, Wabash, and Denison.  Now in the fall of 2006, it's time to continue the tradition.   Plans for tournament play are on the calendar.  Why don't you join us?
