The Wittenberg SPS is designed for Physics majors and minors, and anyone who has an interest in Physics. We typically meet once a week to work on a project, see a movie, or plan a future event. SPS also takes about one field trip a semester depending on what Physics-related activities are happening in the area. SPS also keeps its members informed of research opportunities and internships, and encourages members to volunteer for tutoring and outreach opportunities.
The Wittenberg Chapter of SPS has been in existence since 1968. It has been recognized as an Outstanding Chapter three times: for the 1992-93, 1993-94, and 2003-2004 academic years.
Recently, Wittenberg was granted a charter for a chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society. The first Wittenberg Sigma Pi Sigma members were inducted in May 2004.
