Blair Hall houses the department of education, including Wittenberg's new master's program in education and the Springfield-Wittenberg Teacher Institute. Nationally recognized, Wittenberg's teacher education program strives to integrate the ideals of moral responsibility, social consciousness and vocational commitment into the lives of teachers in such a way that their character, competence and community involvement establish them as leaders for constructive social change. All education students must complete field experience hours in area schools before graduation. Currently, more than 10 percent of Wittenberg graduates teach in the Springfield area. This building has a MacIntosh computer lab with current educational software, and it houses a black box theatre where numerous student-directed plays are performed each year. |
