About Founders Day:
"Yesterday I aided in the survey of the college grounds. This is a lovely spot for the location of a literary institution. It requires some faith to believe that in after years it will be an academic grove, to which hundreds will resort to drink at the pure fountains of knowledge, and go forth into the world to do good, to bless mankind. And yet I have faith to believe that this will all be realized. If my eyes shall not be permitted to behold these blessed results, yet, when they shall be closed in death, others will see and rejoice and bless the Lord for what He has done, in rearing such an instrumentality of blessing."
