Resources for Exploring Career Options

There are three general strategies for learning about options in the "real world." First, review descriptions of career fields - most of this information is just a click away. Second, talk to people about what they do for a living. And, third, get first hand experience through an internship, part-time job, or volunteering. The Exploring Occupations Worksheet will guide you in collecting information about the options you are considering.

Wittenberg Resources

Tiger Career Advisors Network: Comprised of alumni, parents, faculty, and staff who have volunteered to offer career advice, TCAN is a great tool for identifying people to interview.
Alumni Careers Day: Alumni from various academic departments participate in panel discussions about their career paths. This event is always held the Friday of Homecoming Weekend.
Experience Builder Programs: Recognizing that off-campus experiences are key to extending and enriching the liberal arts education, students can explore career fields through Community Service, Internships, Study Abroad, and the Wittenberg Center for Applied Management.

Connecting Majors with Career Fields

Curious about where Wittenberg graduates are working? The Witt Majors Sheets are organized by academic major and list the job titles of graduates one, five, and ten years after they leave Wittenberg. The following sites maintained by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of Delaware are also recommended for exploring majors and related career fields: What Can I Do With a Major in .? and Major Resource Kits..

Please keep in mind that the above web sites are meant to generate ideas about possible career paths to pursue - don't rule out an option that you may be considering if it doesn't appear on one of these lists!
